By Saxon Stahl When I first met Jossim, or Jaden, we had dinner together at the dining hall during Spring Quarter. When he entered the building, the charisma radiated off of him, providing a welcoming energy that naturally drew people to him. He greeted me with a hug and a joke that I wish I can remember now, and we sat down for dinner. Little did I know that we would end up being in the dining hall for 3 hours because Jaden was someone who knew how to carry the conversation and kept it entertaining. His wit was exceptional and whenever you would speak, he made you feel like the only person in the room. After dinner, he hugged me goodbye and told me he would text me when he wanted to have dinner again. Throughout Spring Quarter, we would have dinner once every week and we would talk about family, philosophy, the status quo of UCSC, and many other things. When my Great Grandmother passed, he was there to comfort me. His kindness came naturally and the selflessness he exhibited inspired me to be better. The last time Jaden and I talked, his last words to me was him wishing I wouldn't go through anymore struggle about finding happiness in my appearance. Those words are the best reflection of who he was: kindhearted, lively, and thoughtful. Rest easy, Jaden. Photo Credits: Niko Saafi @kidbrwn on instagram
